Introduction

This document attempts to identify the minimum amount of as-constructed asset data required by a typical local Council to successfully create new assets in its asset management system, and which data formats will allow data to be uploaded into the system with minimum manual intervention.

Acceptable File Formats

Asset data should be submitted in the form of a GIS file in 'Esri Shapefile' or a 'MIF/MID' format. Spatial data is to be projected to GDA94 Zone 55. Attributes are to updated with the features collected. In addition to the GIS file a text file containing generic information about the Subdivision/Development should be provided.

The file should include a separate layer/feature class for each of the asset types listed below.

  3. Lighting
  4. Pathways
  5. Roads
  6. Stormwater Pipes
  7. Stormwater Pits
  8. Stormwater Property Connections
  9. Underground Conduits
  10. Water Sensitive Urban Design Elements

The layer/feature class names should exactly correspond to the asset type names, but with all spaces being replaced by underscores. 
Each individual asset should be represented as a polyline, polygon or point as specified under 'Geometry' for that particular asset type. 
Each entity should have a range of asset type dependent attributes associated with it, and these attributes should be populated in accordance with the rules specified under 'Attributes' for that particular asset type.

In all cases, all assets of a particular type shall be contained in a single continuous file/drawing (not tiled or split in any form).


Bridges

Scope

The Bridges layer should contain all road bridges, pedestrian bridges and boardwalks.

Scope

The Kerbs layer should contain all, kerbs, kerb & channel, plinths and spoon drains.

Each section of kerb is to be labelled with the following attributes. The attribute value is to conform with the stated rules or where a bullet list of options is provided, one of the values listed.

Lighting

Scope

The lighting layer should contain all street lights (poles and lantern fixtures), park and facility lighting.

Pathways

Scope

The Pathways layer should contain all footpaths, bicycle paths and shared pathways. Boardwalks should be included in the 'Boardwalks' layer. (See Part 2 of the Specification)

The Stormwater_Pipes layer should contain all stormwater pipes and minor culverts, excluding stormwater property connections.
